Honouring Our Womb Space
Women’s womb cycles were once considered to be incredibly sacred and powerful. The womb could not only conceive and birth babies, die and be reborn in a monthly cycle; it could also conceive and birth creations, visions, ideas and messages from the Spirit world.
In spiritual circles, we often talk or hear about connecting to the Heart and living from the Heart, in order to grow and evolve, heal our relationships, and find our true purpose, but there is an even deeper place of connection for us to consider. It’s the Womb, not just the physical organ, but the actual womb space. A spiritual or energy centre that exists whether you have a womb or not, whether your womb is fertile or not, so many of us have never consciously connected with it.
Our womb space carries immense power and yet for many of us women it’s a very wounded or forgotten place, a place we don’t habitually connect to.
The womb space is the creative centre of ourselves and is associated with the sacral chakra. Too often we are disconnected from it, sadly neglecting it, or treating it with contempt of negativity, whether because of menstruation issues, menopause or hysterectomy. Or perhaps we are holding old fears and patterns that have come from our parents, or from early negative sexual experiences. Physically and energetically our wombs store emotional upsets/traumas affecting our natural cycles and digestive system, not mention the tension in our lower backs. When we shun our womb space we damage our creative flow. Physical ailments can occur, and dis-ease manifest when the energy is not flowing freely.
To help heal this imbalance it is necessary to physically and consciously connect with your Womb and to activate her healing and grounding feminine energy. Physical self-care and pampering is very nurturing to our womb space and helps embody the creative cycle of receiving, transforming, creating and giving.
One of the direct and simplest to connect to our Womb space is through our breath. Place your hands on your womb, and think of your womb like a chalice cup that is literally filling with your breath. Your breath is like a golden liquid and as your womb receives your breath your womb space fills up and becomes luminous. You can let this golden liquid overflow from the chalice cup and fill your entire pelvic area.
Practising this should make you feel very grounded and peaceful. Your thoughts begin to slow down, and you start to relax into your body, situations in life that felt complicated and overwhelming become manageable as you connect. A deep intuition surfaces within your body guiding you like a compass. Your womb space knows what she needs. Take time to listen to her.

SACRED WOMB MASSAGE
In my experience, we all hold a lot of our flight or fight stuff in the stomach area, which manifests itself in so many different ways, butterflies in the stomach before an exam or meeting, anxiety, fear or even anger or different forms of inflammation, cramp, pain and or congestion. IBS plagues many women and is widely recognised as a stress marker triggered by acute anxiety. Sacred Womb Massage concentrates on the core, the centre of the body; it brings energy and circulation to many of the major organs including the reproductive organs and the digestive system. This has a major effect on the rest of the body too, bringing balance and often release of tension and retained emotional trauma.
The recent discovery that the bowel wall contains all of the same neurological processes and receptors that are found in the brain has turned the orthodox medical world on its head, but this discovery comes as no surprise to holistic practitioners, who have for years maintained that the health of this bowel ecosystem is the key to the health of the entire person. Most of our vital organs are located in the abdomen, yet is an area that receives little attention. Many worldwide cultures recognise the importance of caring for this area of the body and have long since practised some sort of abdominal massage to support health and wellbeing.
Sacred Womb massage combines gentle but effective massage techniques that are applied to the abdomen, womb, lower back and sacrum, that gently realign the abdominal organs, releasing congestion and strengthening the surrounding muscles and ligaments, which improves the circulation, nerve and lymph flow, flushing toxins and re-balancing hormones. Massaging the womb encourages the uterus to find its optimal position. Misalignment of the uterus can contribute to problems such as painful periods, PCOS, Endometriosis, heavy or irregular bleeding. During the pre-menopausal stage, our ovaries are not ovulating as often as they used to, therefore oestrogen and progesterone levels begin to decrease. In response to this decrease, the pituitary gland increases the levels of FSH (& LH) trying to stimulate ovulation. As oestrogen & progesterone levels ebb and flow a woman can experience heavy painful bleeds, irregular bleeds and lighter bleeds, all dependent on the levels of these hormones and the health of our adrenal glands. Working With The Chakras
The second chakra ~ Svadhisthana: The sacral chakra is also known as the creativity and sexual chakra, the seat of emotion. It is located above the pubic bone and below the navel. When your sacral chakra is out of balance you may experience physically a range of symptoms that are generally confined to the lower abdomen, back, and reproductive and digestive organs.

The third Chakra ~ Manipura : The Solar Plexus Chakra is the centre of strength and balance, both physical and emotional. In the solar plexus area (upper part of the belly, where your diaphragm rests) It is important for physical health. It is closely tied to digestive health, but a blockage can cause an issue with other systems as well.
Common physical symptoms of a blocked third chakra include:

What To Expect During Your Session
*Do not have a heavy meal within about an hour before your massage, and as with all massage do not drink alcohol beforehand.
Treatments start with a lumbar, sacral and gluteal massage, allowing you time to relax and become accustomed to my energy and touch before the abdominal massage. When massaging your abdomen, you will be receiving touch from your pubic bone up to your rib-cage and will include a beautiful blend of oil techniques, pulsing, rebozo and guided visualisations. You will be nurtured, nourished and held in a safe place to allow you to release deep-seated emotions that may be blocking your energy.
Drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol and heavy food for 24 hours. As with all therapies involving massage, you may experience slight tiredness or mild flu-like symptoms for up to 24 hours afterwards due to the toxin release from your body.
A Sacred Womb massage can be performed at any time however any womb work has restrictions:
- Just before or during a bleed
- If you have a coil fitted
- If you are in your first trimester of pregnancy
- Any recent abdominal surgery
- If you have an infection or high temperature

The traditional therapeutic healing practice referred to as Yoni Steam, Vagina Steam, Vagi-Steam, V-Steam or Bajos has been used for centuries by Korean and Central American cultures. It was most recently introduced to mainstream Western pop-culture as a result of the Vagi-Steam experience of actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

How Do Yoni Steams Work?
A woman allows the steam from a pot with boiled water and herbs to reach the outer lips of her vagina. When the herbs are placed in the hot water, their medicinal properties, including volatile oils, are released and carried to the surface of your skin, and to the inside of the vagina, where they are absorbed into the bloodstream and into to the uterus.
The herbal steam increases circulation thins mucus, and cleanses the entire reproductive system, allowing it to shed unnecessary membranes and build-up.
*There are many herbs that are great for vaginal steaming. Note that some of them can have adverse effects if you are pregnant, please check before trying.
How To Do A Yoni Steam
To do a Yoni steam treatment you need a large double handful of any of fresh herbs to boil in a large pot that holds about two litres of water. If the herbs you are using are dry, you will need a single large handful to the same amount of water. Boil the herbs in the water for twenty minutes and remove from the heat.
Place the steaming pot of herbs on the floor and sit over the pot on a chair with holes or slats in the seat. Your body should be one or two feet above the steaming herbs. You should be naked from the waist down with a towel wrapped around your legs and waist to hold in the heat. You should remain in the chair absorbing the herbal steam into your vagina for twenty minutes. If you feel like it is burning you, remove the pot of herbs and let them cool for five minutes and replace.
Afterwards, one must be careful about exposure to cold drafts or sleeping in an air-conditioned room. You should keep warm after the steam bath. The ideal would be to go directly to bed and wrap up warmly for an hour. This will serve to strengthen the treatment and allow your body to process the healing effects of the Yoni steam bath. This can be performed at any time during your cycle, except for the 3 days prior to and during menstruation and may be repeated every month until improvement is realised.
